At Howard Lode, adjacent to the extreme SE corner of the Oraparinna Diapir, barite infills steeply dipping fractures within Sturtian Yudnamutana Subgroup. Sediments have been folded around the diapir, and barite veins are parallel to the axial plane of the folding. The lode was mapped, surveyed and sampled. 100 tonnes of barite has been mined from a small open cut. The 2 largest veins are up to 1.2 metres wide, averaging 0.5 metres wide, with lengths of 170 and 130 metres. Silica content ranges from 6.2% to 12.1%. The barite will meet oil drilling grade specifications, but reserves are minimal.
