These diggings have produced precious opal within weathered Cretaceous Marree Subgroup, infilling fractures in claystone, capped by ?Miocene silcrete. At Sarda Bluff and Ouldburra Hill opal with colour also cements coarse sandstone, some of which may be opalised Tertiary sandstone at Ouldburra. Black potch was found at Ouldburra Hill and England Hill during mapping. The potential of England Hill is limited, but the entire scarp from Sarda Bluff to Ouldburra Hill has high potential for precious opal.
