The Benagerie Ridge is a basement high which has been actively shedding detritus since Adelaidean times. It includes porphyry, with thin cover of Adelaidean rocks, flanked by Cambrian and possible Adelaidean sediments. The Cainozoic blankets the entire area. It is represented by carbonaceous uraniferous nonmarine sands of the Tertiary Eyre Formation, confined to palaeochannels. The Miocene Namba Formation forms a blanket of fluvial and lacustrine fine clastics. The Late Cainozoic is well represented, with fan deposits and gravels around the margins of the ranges, and extensive channel deposits in the western area, overlain by fluvial and aeolian sequences. This report is a compilation of previous investigations and recent studies.
