Coarse construction sand, formed by reworking Pliocene Loxton Sands is part of a beach and foredune of the East Naracoorte Dune of Pleistocene Bridgewater Formation. Production totalled 52 305 tonnes from 1965 - 1980. 210000 tonnes of sand conforming to Australian Standard 1965 - 1974 could be produced. Probable sand reserves are 1.5 million tonnes with removal of 0.5 million tonnes of overburden, but much would require upgrading. Systematic mining and installation of washing plant is recommended.
