The talc, 14 km NW of Tumby Bay, has been mined intermittently for 40 years. The talc lodes formed in alteration zone which borders folded Katunga Dolomite of the Early Proterozoic Hutchison Group. The talc is white friable and schistose, in thin elongate lenses parallel to country rock and bounded by jasper or schist. Geological mapping and rotary percussion drilling have defined 4 small lodes, 3 of which have produced 1100 tonnes from underground mining. Reserves of 230 tonnes per vertical metre of talc and quartz are inferred in Lode A, which has potential for open cut mining. The remaining 3 lodes have potential for small scale selective underground mining.
