Approximately 300 wells are located on the Carrieton 1:100 000 sheet, most of them being completed in bedrock and a small minority in Cainozoic unconsolidated sediments. Groundwater salinity averages 3000 mg/L and well yields are generally small, the water being used mainly for stock. More intensive use of groundwater is unlikely to occur in the future and depletion is unlikely to be a problem. Pollution of groundwater is also - unlikely to be a problem.
