The term Adelaide Geosyncline is still appropriate and does not prejudice its interpretation in terms of modern tectonic theory. 3 new supergroups are proposed. The early Adelaidean Warrina Supergroup combines the Callanna Group and Burra Group, while the Heysen Supergroup embraces the late Adelaidean Umberatana Group and Wilpena Group. All the Cambrian rocks of the Adelaide Geosyncline are included in the Moralana Supergroup.
