Since 1950, 75 000 tonnes of fine grained, columnar jointed Wisanger Basalt have been quarried, 3 km NW of Kingscote. It is the only aggregate quarry with a crushing plant on K.I, and produces a large range of products. Indicated reserves are 370 000 tonnes + 980 000 inferred. Fluvial sand 4 metres thick underlying the basalt is suitable for fine aggregate.
