Total output from 1940 - 1979 is 180 000 tonnes. The deposits are in folded Marinoan shale and siltstone of the Wilpena Group, within a cone shaped graben, structurally controlled by the Oraparinna Diapir. All lodes are within Brachina Formation, underlying ABC Range Quartzite, except the Belsen Lode, which is in the overlying Bunyeroo Formation. Reserves from no. 1 and 5 Lodes are 16 900 and 7 300 tonnes. Deepening no. 1 Lode has greatest potential for increasing reserves.
