Well cemented slightly wrathered metasandstone (Kanmantoo Group) occurs at the site of the proposed harbour. Fracture spacings are such that when blasted the rock would form blocks of a suitable size for a breakwater. The rock is considered to be excellent breakwater material. To ensure sufficient draught for the proposed ferry deepening of the harbour to 3m is recommended.
