Nilpena deposits comprise no. 1 and 2 lodes and Jim Crowe lode on the western flank of the Flinders Ranges. The no. 1 and 2 lodes cross cut Brachina Formation on the western limb of the Nuccaleena Dome, whereas Jim Crowe lode has been emplaced along bedding of Elatina Formation. Reserves of oil drilling grade barite total 16 400 tonnes.
