The deposit, 4 km south of Tarpeena, is intermittent source of construction sand for Mount Gambier, with production of 150 000 tonnes. Coarse Molineaux Sand of Holocene age overlies calcareous clay and limestone, probably derived from Dilwyn Formation. 17 auger holes outlined probable reserves of 120 000 tonnes of construction sand, of which 30 000 tonnes could be blended to meet specifications for fine aggregate for concrete.
