State Government and exploration company data are compiled into a review of the geology and resource potential of the region. Attention is directed to the relative lack of basic lithological, petrophysical and biostratigraphic data, despite the intensity of drilling, and to the sparse coverage by geophysical surveys. Recommendations to redress this imbalance are made, so that the geology and economic potential can be better appreciated.
