By comparison with 1982 figures, trends in the industry were :-marginal increase in production from $28.76 million to $31.15 million. -increase in number of registered Precious Stones Claims on all fields, with increase of 48 at Coober Pedy....

By comparison with 1982 figures, trends in the industry were :-marginal increase in production from $28.76 million to $31.15 million. -increase in number of registered Precious Stones Claims on all fields, with increase of 48 at Coober Pedy. -increase in the number of opal miners from 795 to 845. -capital investment showed marginal increases on all fields. Major equipment is selected as an equipment index to reflect the level of mining activity.
