412 000 m3 of rail ballast was produced between 1968 and 1975. 2 stages of future quarry development are proposed : advancement of the existing southern quarry face about 70 metres to yield 100 000 m3 of in situ material beneath 50 000 m3 of overburden, followed by development of a second face 15 metres deep to yield an additional 500 000 m3 of in situ material.
