Documents the contribution of biogenic bioclastic and terrigenous clastic components to Holocene shelf sedimentation to provide framework for assessing Quaternary shelf evolution. Quaternary sea level fluctuations have promoted terrigenous carbonate intermixing, but have suppressed long term carbonate production. The changing locus of maximum terrigenous sedimentation (the coastal zone), associated with fluctuating sea levels has resulted in an overwhelming dominance of terrigenous clastic in the subsurface of the shelf.
