Kanmantoo Quarry produces paving and walling stone from fine grained metasiltstone, with lesser biotite schist, belonging to Cambrian Brukunga Formation. Slab thickness is controlled by bedding plane partings 1 to 25 cm apart and slab size by 2 major joint sets nearly perpendicular to bedding at an average spacing of 0.45 metres. Development of an upper western face will provide 42 000 m3 of fresh rock, sufficient for 15 years production. Kanmantoo and Wistow quarries, are in similar stratigraphic positions and their flagstone products are expected to be similar in strength and durability.
