21 specimens of volcanics and felsic gneisses are heterogeneous in both original lithology and the extent of metamorphic and metasomatic alteration. Strong granitic metasomatism may indicate concealed granitoid plutons. Continuation of andesitic volcanism during deposition of the Heatherdale Shale suggests the need for reappraisal of nomenclature and concept of the underlying Truro Volcanics.
