Palaeosol and organic rich horizons in exposed Bessette Sediments were investigated to determine the nature of Middle Wisconsin climate. Palaeoclimatic implications of palynomorph assemblages are that conditions at 42 000 years ago were at least 30C cooler than present but by 34 000 years ago had ameliorated to similar to or only slightly cooler than present.
