Numerous steeply dipping reworked conglomeratic magnesite interbeds within the upper part of the Skillogalee Dolomite range from several cms to several metres thick. At Camel Flat, the sequence crops out for 1.5 km along strike, and in a central zone 115 metres thick, 25 magnesite interbeds are exposed. Previous costeaning and drilling in the southern part of Camel Flat indicated that magnesite is low grade with high silica content. Sampling in 1984 - 85 proved that the northern part is higher grade. Within the mineral claims, an area 450 metres along strike and 115 metres across strike contains inferred reserves to 5 metres above adjacent creek level of 207 000 tonnes of magnesite averaging 4.7% SiO2, with overburden of ore ratio of 7:1. The proposed mine site meets specifications for water filtration, but for refractories or the chemical industry requires selective mining.
