The Long Ridge granite (informal names Sienna Granite, Sienna Brown and Sedan Granite) is fine to medium grained, probably crystallized under shallow cover. 15 samples are described to illustrate false variation, weathering alteration, fracturing, grain boundaries and other features. Most of the properties are conducive to high quality as a building stone but 3 types of fractures are described which detract from the load bearing strength of the material. There is evidence of accumulated strain in the rock, following long history of stress.
