Beach sands, dunes and selected creek sand were sampled. Kanmantoo Group metasediments that underlie most of the island, basalt and granite are favourable source rocks for heavy minerals. They are being actively eroded along most of the coastline but most beaches, except Morrison Beach, are not favourable for heavy minerals.
