Groundwater analysis from 17 wells has detected elevated concentrations of Cu,Cr, As and creosote in the unconfined aquifer at the State Mill, resulting from the discharge of contaminated storm water or septic tank effluent. The contaminated groundwater should be removed and the CCA and creosote treatment plants upgraded. Further investigations are recommended to locate the groundwater pollution plume resulting from the 1983 creosote spillage.
