History of exploration for Mississippi Valley type lead zinc in Cambrian limestone in the Flinders Ranges and of SADME involvement in exploration of Flinders Ranges National Park for BHP (EL 1080). The 1983-85 SADME investigations located 8 prospective areas near the top of Wilkawillina Limestone, and outcrops of zinc gossan not previously known, with best assay of 43% Zn and 1700 ppm Pb. The largest prospect, Manga, is 2 km by 700 metres. 4 of the 8 areas are worthy of further work - Southern, Manga, Concert and Willa prospects, but no further work is planned. A new Lead / Zinc Task Force formed in 1986 is reviewing all lead / zinc data in the State to determine areas of interest and priorities.
