In mid 1892, a 10 head stamp battery was constructed about 4 km NE of the Countess of Jersey gold mine. Reportedly 300 tonnes of ore from the mine was treated at the battery, but no records are available. Recent hand auger sampling and surveying of the old battery site indicate that as much as 390 tonnes of tailings grading 3.06 g/t Au and containing an average 2.25 g/t Ag, 3 835 ppm Pb, 102 ppm Cu, 162 ppm Zn and 68 ppm As, remain on site.
