Broad View 1 intersected 381.6 metres of deformed and recrystallized porphyritic rhyolite rhyodacite with minor interlayered calcsilicate gneiss, and 170.8 metres of Bosanquet Formation (new name) metasedimentary calcsilicate gneisses and schists, and magnetite + grunerite-rich horizons (Mount Shannan Iron Formation Member of the Hutchison Group). This sequence of deformed volcanics plus minor calcsilicates has not been previously recognized and its stratigraphic position has not been unambiguously determined. Although base metal values for both the Mount Shannon Iron and the Bosanquet Formations within the drill core are low, the presence of acid volcanics associated with carbonate-rich metasediments, with minor occurrences of sulphides is an encouraging target for base metal exploration.
