Investigations consisted of: 1) economic appraisal, mapping and sampling of mineralised structures within mineral leases; 2) regional investigation to east of Mount Grainger mine (report in RB 84/31) - includes details of exploration by Abignano Ltd. Stratabound (Telfer type) gold mineralization is confined to quartz-vein sets and stockworks in joints and fractures within a basal arkose / sandstone of the Appila Tillite. Channel sampling failed to establish any mineable ore reserves, but has confirmed that anomalous gold values occur at the base of and within the Appila Tillite. Bulk samples indicate that a recovery of 1.0 to 2.0 g/t. gold bullion from the base of the Appila Tillite is possible. Sub-economic mineralization has been demonstrated over a strike length of 700 metres, down dip for 66 metres, and over a width of 10 metres. Attendant drill hole and open cut spacing eliminates the possibility of finding a sizeable ore deposit amenable to open pit mining. Small, discrete alteration zones and ore shoots containing accessible moderate to low grade ore could be delineated, but would require further exploration.
