The application of amino acid racemization reactions is explored for regional chronostratigraphic correlation of Last Interglacial marginal marine sediments. The extent of racemization evident for a range of amino acids in several molluscan species which have experienced similar Effective Quaternary Temperature histories (E.Q.T.), convincingly demonstrates the time equivalence of these sediments.
