Sheared granitic rocks from Black Hill are probably pegmatoid differentiates from the gabbroic pluton. Porphyritic, medium-grained basic rock from the Council quarry is either chilled marginal facies of the pluton or a post-plutonic dolerite dyke. Exposures of gabbroid rocks to the east of the quarries are within the range of variation on the Black Hill itself but are not distinctive enough to permit detailed correlation between the 2 areas.
