This study examines in detail, stratigraphy and sedimentology of Skillogalee Dolomite and its lateral variation. Data on facies development and palaeogeography for this area, particularly marine or non-marine interpretation are pertinent to the overall stratigraphic interpretation of the Adelaide Geosyncline. Reports on mapping and 12 stratigraphic sections of Burra Group strata. Skillogalee Dolomite is thick (up to 4000 metres) predominantly peritidal carbonate sequence (dolomite, magnesite) representing major marine inundation of an evolving, intracratonic rift basin. Rapid deposition occurred in complex of sub-parallel, differentially subsiding extensional sub-basins. Strontium and oxygen isotopic values are compatible with marine origin.
