SAMREF, this Departments reference database, has been developed as 1 large system on an NEC APCIV personal computer, consisting of 16 928 references covering the period 1953-88. The amalgamation involved providing additional disk storage on the PC, redesigning of the database and conversion of all references to 1 format. Results of tests conducted during the building are presented graphically. PC-STATUSs limitations are outlined and explanations and solutions to problems experienced in the process of building, and actions required upon display of error messages are given.
