As part of a comprehensive investigation on the effect of groundwater on River Murray salinity, 23 investigation wells were drilled to depths of 44 to 229 metres. 8 wells were completed in the Murray Group unconfined aquifer with water table ranging from 29 to 50 metres below surface. 9 more wells monitor the Renmark Beds confined aquifer with potentiometric surface ranging from 20 to 81 metres below ground level. 3 holes were abandoned due to shallow basement.
