The Golden Grove Extractive Industry Area is the centre of the States brick industry and is the most important source of construction sand for the northern Metropolitan area. This paper presents an overview of 1 option for a development strategy as a basis for discussions between SADME, mining operators, Tea Tree Gully Council, South Australian Urban Land Trust and the Department of Environment and Planning, to achieve an agreed management plan. Mining is expected to continue for at least 50 years. Upon cessation of mining and dewatering, there will be a period of groundwater recovery resulting in the formation of a lake in the deeper part of the worked out area.
