A 70 metre deep, 250 mm diameter, experimental artificial recharge well was completed with 35 metres open hole in a confined limestone aquifer River water of salinity less than 1 500 mg/L will be gravity recharged via a silt trap and screens. Pump testing indicates a safe yield of 18 L/s and a steady state recharge rate of 10 L/s. Aquifer transmissivity was 300 cubic metres per day and the storage coefficient, 0.0005. Further experimental work is proposed.
