The samples are mainly of granitoid composition, with minor intermediate and mafic types. Textures include gneissic, schistose, aplitic and mylonitic. A deep crustal origin is suggested by the presence of orthopyroxene and garnet in a few granitoids, and one sample is of charnockitic affinity. Retrograde metamorphism is associated with silicification and widespread grainsize refinement by dynamic recrystallisation. One specimen is of a banded iron formation.
