From commencement of crushing operations in March 1933 until its closure in March 1954, the South Australian State Government battery at Mongolata Goldfield crushed a total of 7600 tonnes of ore for a recovery of 318.25 kg of gold bullion via onsite smelting after amalgamation and cyanide treatment. The average gold bullion yield was 41.875 g/tonne. In addition, 4290 tonnes of battery tailings were treated to produce 32.326 kg of gold, representing an average tailings grade of 7.535 g/tonne. Although not all of the ore mined at the Mongolata Goldfield was treated by this battery, the records show conversely that only 2 parcels treated by it were mined elsewhere than at Mongalata, namely at Ulooloo Goldfield.
