Aerial photography indicates that irrigation has increased substantially over the last few years. Concern has been expressed by some land-owners, and by the Mount Remarkable District Council, that extraction might be excessive. There is at least a potential problem as standing water levels have been declining. Quaternary aquifers were too discontinuous to map, but salinity zones have a close relationship to the most likely sources of recharge. Groundwater chemistry indicates 2 major sources of recharge. There is no indication of an increase of salinity with irrigation.
