Skeleton 2 penetrated sediments of the eastern Lake Eyre Basin, the Frome Embayment, and granitic basement of the Mount Painter Ridge. The hole records the southernmost known occurrence of Cadna-owie Formation in the Frome Embayment. Unexpectedly, Cambrian and Adelaidean rocks were not intersected. The Cretaceous section begins in Bulldog Shale, which is exceptionally thick, suggesting subsidence in this area during the Aptian and Albian. A regolith on weathered basement was intersected, and the contact was cored. A 3-metre core in fresh granite revealed coarse (pink / green) biotite adamellite, veined and altered in part, and with minor chalcopyrite. The adamellite was dated by U-Pb-Zircon at 1557 /- 6 Ma. A lead loss event at 348 /- 55 Ma was also identified. Drill dates: 17/6/89 to 14/7/89. GL 27.72 metres, line 70CFT, 220 metres north of peg 145. Status: plugged and abandoned. Total depth: TD=591.75 metres, terminating in Precambrian granitic basement.
