Two bulk samples from high-grade kaolin zones in ABC Ltd South and ABC Ltd North pits were taken to test the suitability of the <2um size fraction for use as a coating clay. The samples gave a relatively high yield of <2um size particles which showed good particle size distribution, moderate to good crystallinity, and brightness values of 89%, and 84% respectively for the raw product. Results for low and high shear viscosity tests were unacceptable for coating applications. Thirty five core samples, previously crushed and split for kaolin analysis, were selected to test for possible enrichment of gold within the kaolinized zone. Drillhole B5 recorded the highest gold values of 0.76gm/t and 0.92 gm/t from 2 samples representing a total width of about 5 metres. The results discount the potential for a large low-grade gold orebody but indicate a potential for further discovery of small pockets of primary gold ore within the kaolin orebody.
