Fully HQ/NQ cored SADME stratigraphic drillhole Mount Rufus 1 was sited on the western margin of the Karinya Syncline to investigate the nature of the Adelaidean - Early Cambrian Normanville Group contact, and the mineral potential of the area. It intersected ?Tarcowie Siltstone and entered Truro Volcanics before reaching a total depth of 435.7 m. Mineralisation observed includes tourmaline, magnetite, and sulphides of iron and copper. Chalcopyrite and barite are present in minor quantities and indicate mobilised metal sulphides. Traces of native copper are also present in veins.
