Wilklow DDH1 was drilled by SADME east of the Miltalie mine, located NW of Cowell, to test an IP / resistivity anomaly. Drill core comprised of migmatitic Cook Gap Schist of the Palaeoproterozoic Hutchison Group was recovered down to 152.5 m hole depth. Biotite, garnet and sillimanite are prominent in the schist, which locally contains graphite, pyrite, traces of galena, and thin marble and amphibolite interbeds. The anomaly is thought to be due to graphite and possible sulphides existing in greater concentrations than seen in Wilklow DDH1, below or adjacent to the drillhole. This shallow-sourced anomaly could be effectively investigated by further geophysical survey lines and shallow drilling near the drillhole.
