Of 2 rocks mapped as andesite in the Stavely Belt of western Victoria, 1 is more properly a meta-andesite since optical examination indicated considerable modification of mineral components. Movement of chemical constituents may be internal to the specimen. The other rock appears to be a glassy mafic volcanic with a small amount of autobrecciation. Neither rock is similar to any intersected in Peebinga 1, a hole drilled by SADME at the eastern end of the Murray Basin transect.
