4 samples of drill core from a groundwater investigation well located approximately 6.5 km north-west of Mundulla were examined palaentologically to evaluate whether the Tertiary Murray Basin sediments that were cored can be correlated with similar lithologies found in drillhole Coonalpyn Downs 1, located near the type section of the Buccleuch Group. The foraminiferal and palynological assemblages present within the sampled depth interval equate with the current understanding of the stratigraphic age relationship of the Buccleuch and Renmark groups near the southern margin of the Murray Basin.
