Fossil Lygodium leaves including sterile and fertile pinnules of the climbing fern are described from Dinmore (Queensland), Maslin Bay and Golden Grove (South Australia), Anglesea (Victoria) and other localities in southern Australia and New Zealand. Previous records of Lygodium or Lygodium-like ferns and problems inherent in classifying and describing variable taxa are discussed.
