There is an acute shortage of potable water, for both human and stock consumption, west of Ceduna. Various schemes have been suggested to alleviate this situation, one of which is to find additional low salinity groundwater lenses like those which already supply most of the water for human consumption and all water for stock. Local areas selected by SADME hydrogeologists were tested with TEM soundings and traverses. While the results were not fully definitive, they gave guidance to a subsequent drilling program.
