As a stimulus to exploration, a diskette of survey data and new image processed maps of 1960s frequency domain IP surveys is provided. The survey area, from Cockburn to Radium Hill, is highly prospective for base metals and is part of more extensive coverage by Mines Exploration Pty Ltd from 1962 to 1966. Regional cover extends from E of Broken Hill, to W of Radium Hill. Methods used to produce the digital data and new maps, and recommendations for further analysis are discussed. When the IP survey was conducted, the quantity termed `Apparent Metal Factor was particularly important in selecting drill targets. Several anomalies were tested and sulphide mineralisation, mainly pyrite, but in some cases copper sulphide, was intersected. Use of Apparent Metal Factor alone can overlook more subtle and indirect targets, especially disseminated sulphide targets, and pyrite halos. Thus, reinterpretation should also use the Apparent Frequency Effect and Apparent Resistivity. SADME has captured about 600 line kilometres of 500 foot dipole-dipole IP data from the original paper pseudosections available on open file. A diskette contains the captured data and the conversions to Apparent Frequency Effect in percent, and Apparent Resistivity in ohm.metres. To evaluate the quality of the IP data, all was gridded and contour maps and pixel maps were produced. The maps show the general coherence of the IP data and indicate the suitability for conversion and manipulation with modern methods. New maps derived from Apparent Metal Factor and Apparent Frequency Effect show some significantly different patterns. These results are provocative for exploration and it is evident by inspection of the new maps that only a few IP targets were selected for comprehensive follow up and subsequent drilling.
