South Australias mining and petroleum legislation provides a clear and environmentally sensitive route for gaining access to land for mineral exploration and development. The interface between the mining legislation and the newer green legislation raises concern with the mining industry and the government administrators of this industry. The paper examines these pieces of legislation, their impact on governments one application one approval' philosophy and proposes a means of dealing with the various interest groups.
