South Australian graphite is reviewed in the light of published information on world deposits. A high quality coarse flake product has been mined at Uley on southern Eyre Peninsula. Geophysical investigations of deposits near Kimba are warranted, to define the size of the graphitic bodies and identify drilling targets. The inferred resource lying to the south of Uley is enormous, while large areas of the remainder of Eyre Peninsula are prospective for locating further deposits within Precambrian metamorphic terranes. Reported high concentrations of graphite at sites in the Olary Province should also be investigated.
