Earthquake risk in South Australia, while low by global standards, is sufficiently high to warrant methodological analysis. A relatively novel method, seismic moment, is used to estimate the risk in South Australia. Detailed results are given for three major centres. A new attenuation function is produced exclusively from South Australian earthquakes. The risk in Adelaide is estimated to be near the zone 1/2 boundary, but strongly dependent on attenuation.
