Aerial photography and satellite imagery, plus an on-ground geological reconnaissance and a transient electromagnetic geophysical survey, were used to select sites for drilling water wells to provide a major expansion of the Pukatja town water supply. Of the thirteen wells drilled, six were successful in obtaining a useful yield of potable groundwater. Four of the successful wells were in the vicinity of a known relatively high-yielding well, while the other two were in a previously untried area.
